Jocelyn Jean Learned (1/31/1946 - 11/18/2023)
Jocelyn was born in Southern Wyoming to her parents Joan and James Learned. James was a well known lawyer that worked with the oil industry. She grew up in Wyoming, where she attended school.
Jocelyn had two children, Kristine Hammel and Jeffrey Hammel. Her daughter Kris now resides in Denver with her partner Vic McGhee. Jeffrey Hammel passed away in October of 2009 in Cheyenne.
Jocelyn was an avid reader and had a passionate interest in politics. While living in Denver, she returned to school to obtain a college degree and eventually found herself in the middle of Republican politics in Denver, which she thrived in and fully enjoyed. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri and began a career with the American Arbitration Association. She excelled in this position, and loved her time and home in Kansas City.
She moved back to Cheyenne to care for her mother. After her mother's passing, she moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to be closer to her family and enjoy her retirement.
Jocelyn is survived by her daughter, Kristine Hammel, her daughter-in-law Chrissy Hammel-Peterson, and her cherished grandchildren: Madelyn Triz, Kyla Jean, Hannah Turpin, Ian Hammel, Jessica Schmid, and Megan Hammel. She is also survived by their spouses and her 8 great-grandchildren Grayson, Sage, Leo, Dawes, Jude, Griffin, Awden and Oliver.
Katie Lynn Learned, her "little girl angel princess" and devoted puppy, was the true love of her life and spent the last decade of her life loyally by her side. Their bond was beautiful to see, Katie was by her side in her final moments of life and was her most cherished companion.
As Jocelyn aged she was supported by dear friends Jerry, Barbra and Chris, who surrounded her with love and care during her time in Fort Collins.
She will be missed by all. No formal services for Jocelyn are planned.
The family will have an open house in her honor at a future date.
