Listen to Obituary
Joanne Margie Zahn passed away August 28, 2025, in her home surrounded by her daughters Amie and Robyn. Joanne leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.

Joanne was born on October 28, 1945, in Denver, Colorado. At 6 weeks of age, she and her twin brother, Joseph, were placed in the State Home for Dependent and Neglected Children. In November of 1946 they were adopted by their loving parents, Eleanor and Edward Zahn. Joanne grew up in Lakewood, Colorado and graduated from Marycrest high school in 1963. She attended St. Mary's College in Xavier, Kansas from 1963-1965 and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado from 1965-1966.

Joanne possessed a remarkable talent for art and a deep passion for floral design, which she used to enhance the beauty of the world around her. Her love of travel took her to many places around the world. However, her greatest joy was always her children and grandchildren.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and twin brother, Joseph. She is survived by her five children, Stephen (Shari) Zibby, Elizabeth (Steven) Onorato, Matthew Zibby, Amie Zibby, and Robyn (Jack) Krause, who carry on her strength, and spirit; and her partner, Kenneth Veal. Her legacy also lives on in her beloved grandchildren, Meghan (Adrian) Perea, Zachariah Onorato, Mikaela Zibby, and David Zibby. She was the wind beneath our wings.

Joanne's service will be held at Bas Bleu Theatre, 401 Pine Street in Fort Collins Colorado on Saturday October 25, 2025, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Bas Bleu Theatre or Pathways Hospice.
