Listen to Obituary
Joanne Rogers passed away peacefully on Sunday October 21, 2018 at Pathways Hospice in Loveland at the age of 77, from the effects of lung cancer. Joanne was born to Charles and Agnes Rapp in 1941 in Fullerton, California. She grew up in a large and loving family environment during a golden age of sorts in Orange County. She was the youngest of three girls and is survived by her older sisters, Marcille Sohlberg of Missoula, MT and Nancy Carver of Fullerton, CA. In her high school years she followed a family tradition of working at the Chicken House at Knott's Berry Farm, she was a song-girl at Fullerton Union High School, enjoyed the Southern California beaches and the very first days of Disneyland. After high school, she decided to follow her sister, Nancy to the University of Colorado in Boulder, where both were members of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She met her future husband, Garth Rogers, at the Kappa house where he worked as a "hasher" while attending law school.

After getting married in Fullerton in 1962, Garth and Joanne moved to Fort Collins in 1963, where she lived for the next fifty-five years. She loved living in Fort Collins with a multitude of wonderful friends and their families. She spent her years as a dedicated wife and a loving mother to her four sons. She treasured being a grandmother to nine grandchildren. Joanne was an active and giving member of the Fort Collins community. She remained involved in the KKG sorority at CSU, was a leader in the local chapter of P.E.O., a long-standing member of Trinity Lutheran church, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was an extraordinary friend to many. She enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. Joanne was a regular on the Fort Collins social circuits and enjoyed entertaining regularly. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful smile and a beautiful soul. She worked hard to maintain meaningful relationships throughout her life and will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Garth; sons, Todd (Cheryl), Chris (Ambree), Greg (Jen), and Clay (Steph), and her nine wonderful grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider a donation to Meals on Wheels of Fort Collins in her memory.
