JoAnne (Hawes) Mizia
July 3, 1944 – January 25, 2026

JoAnne Mizia (née Hawes) passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Fort Collins, CO. She was reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Joseph F. Mizia, who preceded her in death.

JoAnne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister whose life was centered around her family. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved and took immense pride in the lives and families her sons built. Her warmth, kindness, and steady presence were a source of comfort and strength to all who knew her.

Her legacy lives on through her two sons, Joseph Mizia II and his wife, Melissa (née Lowery), and their children, Emily, Avery, and Matthew; and John Mizia and his wife, Hillary (née Kaufman), and their children, Miles and Ella and grandpets Shadow, Rey, and Sprout. JoAnne treasured her role as grandmother and delighted in every moment spent with her grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary and Myra, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

JoAnne will be remembered for her feisty spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the legacy of care and devotion she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved her.

A burial service to celebrate JoAnne's life will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois on May 30, 2026 at 11:00 am.
