JoAnn Frydendall of Fort Collins died April 6, 2006, at Golden Peaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. JoAnn was born April 29, 1929, in Big Springs, Neb., to Dorcas Julia Peterson and Emmert LeRoy Peterson. Her family moved to Fort Collins in 1938, and JoAnn graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1947. She married Jerry D. Frydendall on Sept. 17, 1950. She traveled extensively with her husband and family in the United States, Europe and Africa. After her husband retired from the U.S. Army, she returned to Fort Collins in 1990. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Fort Collins; her son, Jay, of Fort Collins; three daughters, Denise Lambiase of Chandler, Ariz., Tracy McDade of Windsor and Cindy Baeza of Bernalillo, N.M. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Virgina Powell and a brother, Oakie Garner. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St., Fort Collins 10:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a reception at the church. JoAnn's cremains will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery in a private service by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 415 Peterson St., Fort Collins, CO 80524. JoAnn's family extends its gratitude to the staff of Golden Peaks for the superb care given JoAnn during her long bout with Alzheimer's Disease.
