Joan M. Pease

October 17, 1929 — March 22, 2020

Listen to Obituary
Mrs. Joan (Vogel) Pease, 90, of Fort Collins, Colo., passed away early Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Columbine West in Fort Collins.

A Private Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Church in Fort Collins. Grave-side service and interment will be in Washington, Iowa at Elm Grove Cemetery, April 6, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Animal Friends Alliance, Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse, or St. John XXIII Parish in Fort Collins.

Joan moved from Iowa to Montana on a wild west adventure with her husband, James Pease, who passed away from cancer in 1963. Joan was a loving, wonderful wife and mother with a fun sense of humor. She reared her daughter, while maintaining a home and obtaining a degree in elementary education. She was incredibly talented, organized, artistic, and extremely patient with children. She insured that every need I had was met, and often made sacrifices for me to have many opportunities in life. She was a tremendous cook, gardener, seamstress, and housekeeper on top of all her responsibilities and was a perfect model of a Christian Mother (her greatest gift to me.) I am so very proud of her. She also loved her doggies. She was so fond of animals and cared for many pets throughout her life. After teaching school for a short time, she ventured down to Fort Collins where she pursued some graduate coursework and subsequently accepted a position with Woodward Governor in Fort Collins, where she worked in several areas for many years until she retired.

Her passing will leave a tremendous void in the lives of her family, friends and co-workers. She was a farm girl with incredible strength, and determination who endured a number of health issues in the latter part of her life. She never missed an opportunity to show a kindness to others in spite of many medical battles she fought and still excelled at everything she tackled. I will miss her terribly as she was my best friend.

Joan is survived by her brother, Don (Marlene), with many nieces, nephews. She was preceded by her husband, James; her parents, Leo and Magdalena Vogel, and sisters, Virginia and Helen.

Mother, I love you.
Patrice Campbell
