Joan Mary "Hirsch" Evans
Joan Mary, 89, passed away on December 2 in Fort Collins. She was surrounded by her children Brian, Kevin, Cheryl and son-in-law, Jerome, at her daughter's house.
Joan was born in Rochester, New York on June 30, 1933 to Frank and Kathryn Hirsch. While in Rochester she met her lifelong friend and husband, Anthony "Skip" Evans. The two were married in 1954 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Joan and Skip relocated to Fort Collins, CO in 1973 for Skip to work for Kodak.
Joan devoted her life to caring for her family and four children. Joan was known as Nana to her grandchildren Jeremy, Lucas, Jessica, Joel, Brittany, Sarah, Nicole, Michael, Katie and Brooke. Joan was very fortunate to share many special times with her grandchildren and with her 17 great-grandchildren. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she would often share pictures with her many friends.
Joan made friends easily and was known for her dry sense of humor. She had many neighborhood friends in the Village West neighborhood also known as "Little Rochester" to the Kodak transplants. She went on to make many friends at Park Lane Towers and Rigden Farm, were she also resided.
She is survived by her children Brian Evans (wife Sue), Kevin Evans and Cheryl Schiager (husband Jerome). She is proceeded in death by her husband Skip who passed on April 12, 1993 and her son Peter who passed on November 4, 1984.
An intimate family ceremony is planned for Wednesday, December 7, 2022 to celebrate her life.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Pathways Hospice, Fort Collins.
