Joan Chandler, 88, of Wellington, CO, passed away in Fort Collins, CO, on May 10, 2025.
She was born in Torrington, WY, in 1936 to Racheal and Herman Geisick. The family soon moved to Mountain Ave, Fort Collins, CO, where Joan later graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1954. Throughout her life, Joan worked in various roles around the city. She was a lifeguard at City Park Pool, a carhop at A&W, a singer, and an employee at Woodward Governor.
Later in life, she lived in Burlington, CO, where she owned and operated J.B.'s Horse Motel.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David Geisick, William Geisick, and her son Edward Jean Nix. She is survived by her sister Kathy McIsaac (San Jose, CA); daughter Diane Nix
(Wellington, CO); sons Alan Nix (Billings, MT) and Scott Nix (Sterling, CO); numerous grandchildren; including her best friend and beloved grandson Andrew Copley (Wellington, CO), who cared for her in her final years.
Joan will always be remembered for her outgoing, social, and witty nature. She had a radiant presence that lit up every room. She loved flowers, singing, and showed deep
affection for all animals, especially her cherished dogs, Charlie and Bear.
"She will be remembered most for her response when asked, 'How are you doing?' - she would always reply, 'Marvelous, darling. Simply marvelous.'"
She will be missed every day, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 1, 2025, at 6787 Wild Grass Lane, Wellington, CO. From 10AM to 7PM.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to NOCO Humane (formerly Larimer Humane Society) would be greatly appreciated.
