Listen to Obituary
Jo Anne Edwards, 75, of Fort Collins, died April 18, 2011 at Poudre Valley Hospital following a lengthy illness. Jo Anne was born May 17, 1935 in Cedaredge, Colorado, to Norman and Marie Brubaker. She grew up in Bellvue and attended Cache La Poudre High School. Jo worked for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator for thirteen years. She married Eldon K. Edwards on January 30, 1965 in Laporte, Colorado and they made their home in Wellington where she and Eldon farmed family land. Jo lived most of her life in Wellington, moving recently to the MacKenzie Place in Fort Collins. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an avid member of the Wellington Senior Center where she enjoyed weekly luncheons with her friends. Jo loved fishing, her flowers, watching the Broncos, playing cards with friends and family, but most of all enjoyed family barbeques where she loved to instigate a good family water fight. Survivors include her son, Eddy and his wife, Carrie of Windsor; brother, Dennis Brubaker and his wife Judy of Bellvue, Colorado; sister, Karen Bryner and her husband, Bill of Fort Collins; and two grandchildren, Alexander and Calista, whom she loved very much and were the highlight of her life. Preceding Jo Anne in death are her parents, Norman and Marie Brubaker; her husband, Eldon K. Edwards and sister, Norma Jean Gertson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, Wellington, Colorado. Memorial contributions can be made to Wellington Senior Center in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
