Jerry Lee Wetzler was born on August 17, 1948, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins to Harry and Melba Wetzler. He lived in Fort Collins his whole life and loved telling a vast number
of historical facts about the area. On a tour of Old Town Fort Collins, he was adding details to what the tour guide shared. He loved the outdoors including fishing, camping, and the
mountains with his family, particularly "Gramps," his grandfather. He also loved riding his motorcycle through the mountains especially with his grandchildren, his "brother" Carrol Webb,
and his dog Lilly. He would spend hours flying airplanes on flight simulators and listening to music. He loved going to airshows and sharing what he learned about the airplanes with
everyone that went with him.
Jerry was a Brick Mason for 20 years with Soderberg Masonry. Then he became a mail carrier for 40 years. He was one of the hardest working people one would ever meet and retired at 75 years old. In 1971 he married the love of his life and was married for 53 years. He is survived by his wife Chrissie Wetzler, his daughter, Sheila Gentz, his son, Duane and his wife Sherri Gentz. He has one sister, Rhonda and her husband Les Plattner. His "brother" Carroll Webb and his wife Mary. His grandchildren Ty Gentz, Caleb Gentz and his wife Makayla, Kendall and her husband James Gottsch, along with many nieces and nephews; however, no one was ever called by their real name!
In his bible, he wrote the following on December 29, 1989:
Upon my passing I pray my life will reflect the Love + Faith I have for my Lord. The Lord has blessed me with a Beautiful + Loving Wife whom I love very much.
The Lord gave me Parents and Grandparents that truly were gifts from him to me. The kids and grandkid(s) in my life I thank the Lord he choose me to be their dad and grandfather. Thank you for my Sister.
I pray my life will help guide my family and loved ones to the truth of 'Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour.' Remember this, Believe on Jesus Christ, as I do. If you do this we'll spend eternity in heaven, as a family.
Thanks to everyone of you for being a part of my life.
Jerry Wetzler
