Born in Washington DC, July 17, 1944, to Robert and Ruth Annie Young Wallace. After his father left the service, they moved to Texas and then Denver. He has 2 surviving siblings Kathy Helm and Don Wallace. He is proceeded in death by his oldest brother Fred Wallace. Jerry leaves behind his wife of 28 years Suzanne Rice, his children Steve Wallace (Lisa) of Loveland, Co, Randy Wallace (Heather) of Fort Collins, Adopted son Aaron Wallace of Menomonie Wisconsin, adopted daughter Rachael Wallace, and his step-daughter Elissa Thompson (Chris). He has 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. And many extended family members.
Jerry was with the Fort Collins Police Department from January 1, 1966, till July 1999. He worked about every job within the department from Patrol Officer to Detective, promoting through the ranks and spending most of his career in management as a Division Chief.
Late in life he learned to ride horses, snow ski, and manage a hobby farm. Jerry was an avid sports fan; you name the sport he could talk about it. But he especially loved his Denver Broncos and would never pass up tickets to one of their games.
Jerry passed away of natural causes at home with Suzanne May 8, 2023.
A service is planned for Tuesday May 16, 2023, 3:00 pm, at Bohlender Funeral Services Chapel at 121 W Olive St.
In lieu of flowers donations in his name to the Northern Colorado Fraternal Order of Police Benevolent Fund which provides support for Law Enforcement members and their families due to injury illness or death.
