Jerry DeLain Miller-Zapata, 78, of Fort Collins, died March 22, 2009, at her residence. Jerry was born February 6, 1931, in Haxtun, to Lee Miller and Maxine Richardson Miller. She was married to Adolfo Guadalupe Zapata for 36 years. She lived most of her life in the Fort Collins area. She worked as a cook for many years at the Round Up in Laporte, and the Thunderbird Cafe. She owned her own restaurant in Kersey. She also worked on an oilrig in Walden, and was a truck driver. She enjoyed crafts, painting sawblades, gardening, canning, and building birdhouses. She also loved frogs. Survivors include her four children, Susie Farmer of Wellington, Steve Phillips of Loveland, Shelly Norris of Fort Collins, and Sherry Smole of Fort Collins; a brother, Danny Bob Miller of Wellington; two sisters, Patsy Keenan of Lawton, Okla., and Linda Crabtree of Bellvue; 11 grandchildren, Bree Phillips, Billy and Bryon Farmer, Randall Smole, Jenny Bovee, J.J. Smole, Michelle Shuler, Bobby and Michael Lundin, Jessica Norris, and Samantha Solano, and 23 great-grandchildren. Preceding Jerry in death are her parents; husband; a son, Michael D. Phillips; two sisters, Jodell Johnson and Jackie Spence; and a brother, Larry Miller. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
