Dr. Jerry Crews, 77, of Windsor, CO went home to be with his Savior Wednesday afternoon. Dr. Crews was born on May 16th, 1938 to Jesse and Lucille Crews in Hope, AR. He attended UCLA and graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics. Dr. Crews continued his education at the medical school at UCSF. During this time, he began dating his future wife, Nancy, after meeting her on a rotation in Phoenix, AZ. The two were married on August 18, 1962. Dr. Crews then completed a residency in psychiatry. The couple moved to Fort Hood, TX where Dr. Crews served during the Vietnam War as the chief of psychiatry. Following the war, Dr. Crews completed a neurology residency in Phoenix. Shortly afterwards, the Crews family relocated to Greeley, CO where Dr. Crews practiced neurology for twenty years. Greeley is where Dr. and Mrs. Crews made their home and raised their two sons, Mike and Kent. For the past dozen years, Jerry and his wife lived in Windsor, CO, enjoying retirement, traveling, their church community, and their many friends and large family. God decided to call Jerry home on Wednesday following a surgery at Medical Center of the Rockies. He passed away with his wife, son, and daughter-in- law at his side. Jerry was a true reflection of Christ's love, which was exemplified through his care of his patients, his wife, and his family and friends. He was truly adored by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed. Jerry lives on through his sister, Charlotte, and Nancy, his beloved wife of 53 years. He was a loving dad to his two sons, Mike and Kent, and their wives, Helen and Keri, and he was a favorite papa to his seven grandchildren. We look forward to the day when we will all spend eternity in heaven with Jerry. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held in the Main Auditorium at Timberline Church in Fort Collins at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 with a reception to follow. For those who wish to make a donation in Jerry's memory, the family asks that donations be directed to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, as this was his favorite charity in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
