Jerry L. Berry, age 59, of Fort Collins, Colorado went home to be with the Lord March 2, 2011 with his wife at his side. Jerry was born in Mountain City, Tennessee on October 9, 1951, the second son of Wayne and Mary Lee Berry. Shortly after birth, his family moved to South Bend, Indiana where Jerry attended Oliver Elementary School and Andrew Jackson High School. After graduating from High School, Jerry attended Indiana State University; he was a graduate of Theology from the Baptist Bible College Springfield, MO and received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. While attending Baptist Bible College, he began dating Barbara Caldwell and they were married June 9, 1973. Of that union they were blessed with two children, Caren M. Berry Ridnour and Scott A. Berry.
Jerry went on to work for several churches and schools as an Associate and Youth Pastor and was the Pastor at Goshen Baptist Temple in Goshen, Indiana for over two years. In 1990 the Berry family moved to Fort Collins where Jerry worked for Woodward Governor and Hewlett Packard. In June of 2005 Jerry suffered an unfortunate accident and spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed. He continued to work for several years before retiring in 2009. Prior to his injury, Jerry enjoyed jogging, mountain biking, traveling, coaching and working in the yard. These past few years he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Mary Lee McEwen Berry; siblings, Christopher, Margaret and Phyllis Berry; and granddaughter, Anna C. Ridnour. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Caldwell Berry; children, Caren M. Berry Ridnour of Wellington and Scott Katie Berry of Fort Collins; grandchildren: Hailey and Alyssa Ridnour; brothers: Larry Barb and Gary Conni Berry of Granger, Indiana and his stepmother, Jane Ken Schroeder of Goshen, Indiana. Jerry will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, "papa", brother, and friend. He was a strong man, who fought to the end. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Berry Memorial Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel , 121 W. Olive, Fort collins, Colorado 80524. Visitation will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive Street in Fort Collins, on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 5:00 — 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Front Range Baptist Church, 625 East Harmony Rd, Fort Collins, Colorado on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
