Jerald Clark Summers

Jerald "Jerry" Summers 79, passed away at Poudre Valley Hospital on 9/24/2024. He was born on 3/25/45 to Cecil and Lola Summers in Eads, CO. He had one sister, Janice Summers, who resides in California. His family moved to Fort Collins in 1948 to start Summers Auto Repair. Jerry graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1963 and would work alongside his father till his father retired and Jerry would take over the business. He married Pat Cook, and later divorced. They had two children, Gary and Jill. He ran a successful and honest business for years till he retired in his mid fifties. He married another Pat in his midlife, and later divorced. Jerry loved the outdoors and loved an adventure. He would laugh off a bad situation and carry on, hence his nickname he acquired, "Hard Luck". We all have stories! He loved hunting, he loved fishing. He had many hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends. He hunted, he fished, he skied, he boated and water skied, he camped and scuba dived. He loved to travel! He even built a helicopter and flew it. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He loved rocks and always kept his yard pristine. He laughed and joked and was a very fun, loving guy. A customer of Summers Auto Repair once told Jerry about a fishing village in Mexio named Bahia de Kino or Kino Bay. He was very curious, so one year he loaded up the motorhome with the family in about 1980 and headed south for Kino Bay. The family spent several days camped on the beach, where they fished and snorkled and scuba dived for fresh fish and lobster. After that trip, he knew he wanted to spend more time there. So nearing retirement, he purchased a home on the beach of Kino Bay in Old Mexico and enjoyed the Sea Life. He loved having his friends and family join his adventures and always showed a good time! He was proceeded in death, by his parents, Lola and Cecil Summers. He is survived by his Sister Janice, of California, his Son, Gary Summers of Wellington. Co, his Daughter, Jill (Doug) Mann of Windsor, CO, Grandkids, Courtney Mann(Lonnie) of Severance, CO, Amanda Miller(Wes) of Parker, CO, Spencer Summers of Wellington, CO. and 2 Great Grandchildren, Kenna Mann and Liam Miller. Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
