Jean L. King, of Fort Collins, died Sept. 2, 2006. She was born Oct. 15, 1913 in Longmont, and attended Longmont schools, graduating from Longmont High School. She attended Colorado Agricultural College, now SCU graduating in 1935 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She taught in schools in Wyoming. Mrs. King married Justin Joe O. King on June 20, 1940 in Newcastle, Wyo., where both of them were teaching. They lived in Newcastle, Gillette, Madison, S.D., and Rawlings, Wyo. before moving to Fort Collins in 1957. They adopted their daughter Joan while living in Gillette, and their daughter Julie was born in Madison, S.D. Mrs. King was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal church, chapter EX of P.E.O. 50 year member. She worked for the State Superintendent of Schools in Rawlins, CSU, and the Rocky Mountain Forrest and Range Management station in Fort Collins. After retiring, she delivered "Meals on Wheels" for five years and was a volunteer at Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital for 14 years. Jean was a very loving and giving person. She enjoyed her plants, her friends and her family. She will be missed and lovingly remembered. Survivors include on daughter, Julie A. King of Cody, Wyo.; sister, Patty A. Price of Wellington. She was preceded in death by two daughters, her husband, parents, Cliff and Laura Price, brother, Lt. Col. Jerald C. Price, and special friend Don Howard. Mrs. King will be buried at the family plot in Longmont. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont. Fr. James Paul will officiate the service.
