Jean Johnson (Martha Jean Finch Johnson), 98, died of natural causes on April 19, 2018, in Fort Collins, Colorado, where Jean had lived for 22 years. Born on February 7, 1920, in Indian Hill, Ohio, to Roy Orlando and Stella Morgan (Nelson) Finch, she grew up in Indian Hill, attending the Jefferson School and graduating from Withrow High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) in 1938. On September 2, 1939, she married Kenneth Daniel Johnson, her husband of 62 years, at Armstrong Chapel Methodist Church in Indian Hill. Following service in World War II, they lived in Walford, Iowa, until moving to Toledo, Ohio, in 1952 where they resided until 1996, when they moved to Fort Collins. In Toledo, she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where she volunteered and led the Sunday school nursery for many years. Jean was active in the Heatherdowns School's Mothers' Club and PTA, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts. In Fort Collins, she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and, more recently, First United Methodist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and also worked for several years with the Maumee, Ohio, City Schools. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings (and siblings-in-law), Dorothy Abplanalp (Henry), Betty Connor (Homer), Mary Armbrecht (Melvin), Gaylord L. Finch, Sr., (Rosemary), and Daniel Nelson Finch. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Miriam Elaine Folk Finch (Mrs. Daniel), her children, Rev. Karen Johnson Lowe, Douglas Roy Johnson (Stephanie Lynn), and David Kress Johnson (David Veillon Manuel), her grandchildren, Jennifer Jean Lowe (Wendy Jean Howell), Abigail Joyce Lowe, Kadie Marie Arnold (Wayne), Nicole Rae Huepenbecker (Ricky Lee), and Patrick David Johnson (Angela Christine), and great grandchildren Wiley D Huepenbecker and Silas Roy Johnson. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 4, at 1:00 p.m., at Good Samaritan Society—Fort Collins Village, 508 W. Trilby Rd., Fort Collins, 80525. Memorial gifts may be made to the Staff Assistance Fund of Good Samaritan Society—Fort Collins Village or Open Gate Homeless Young Adult Ministry, Bering Memorial United Methodist Church, 1440 Harold St., Houston, TX 77006.
