Jay Irl Rasplicka passed away quietly on January 6, 2014 in Fort Collins, CO. He was born at home in Arcadia, Nebraska on October 10, 1923 to James George and Emma Agnes Rasplicka. He graduated from high school in Comstock, Nebraska, farmed for a few years and then was inducted into the Navy on May 23, 1944. He served in the Pacific theatre until the end of the war. He returned to San Diego on December 20, 1946, a date he always commemorated. After the war Jay graduated from Hastings College in 1950 with a degree in Business and Accounting. After college he worked for Western Paving in Denver, CO. He was the timekeeper on Loveland Pass when it was paved for the first time. Jay married Dorothy Lois Slack on December 27, 1952. In 1957 Jay started Architectural Concrete, a precast concrete company. The company was later renamed Arco Concrete. He was very active in the National Precast Concrete Association, serving in various capacities including President. He sold the company in 1987. Jay loved to fish. His greatest adventures during retirement were annual fishing trips to Alaska to catch halibut and salmon. He also loved to travel and visited many parts of the world. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dick and Lynn; and his sister, Joan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, LeeAnn Bob Bee; his son, Paul Jody Rasplicka; his grandchildren, Amy, John and Betsy Rasplicka; his brother, Lou Rasplicka; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Southern Gables Church, 4001 S.
