Janice Marie Hodsden, 80, of Fort Collins, died peacefully in her sleep the afternoon of September 10, 2024 after a long journey with Alzheimer's dementia. Mrs. Hodsden was born January 7, 1944 in Fort Collins, CO, though her family spent her youngest years living on a ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming. She grew up on the Stegner Dairy Farm and attended school in LaPorte, CO graduating from Cache La Poudre High School. Following graduation, she attended Colorado State University, where she was a part of the Delta Zeta Sorority and earned a Bachelors in Home Economics in 1966. Janice met Marvin Hodsden while Marvin was teaching and coaching at Poudre High School. They were married on August 18, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Fort Collins, CO. The couple made their home in Fort Collins, moving into their lifelong home in 1971. Janice taught Home Economics in Limon, Aurora Hinckley, and Lincoln Jr High before taking time off to be home with her children. She took great pride in supporting her children's 4-H projects and sports. In the late 80's she returned to the classroom as a Head Start paraprofessional, eventually leading her own Head Start classroom at several schools throughout Fort Collins. In retirement, Janice and Marvin operated Custom Quality Cleaning, serving families and businesses throughout Fort Collins. Janice enjoyed attending Colorado State basketball games with Marvin. Though she enjoyed them even more when her grandkids attended with them. Always making sure that grandpa bought everyone enough snacks. She was always thinking about and caring for others. Her grandkids were her greatest joy. Whether she was sitting on the floor to play in the playroom, jumping in the huge pile of leaves in the front yard, swimming at Village Green Pool, singing silly songs or attending sports and activities, Janice was in her sweet spot loving her grandkids. She loved them tirelessly. In more recent years, as her memory failed, her grandkids found ways to keep laughing and playing with their grandma. She never forgot the words to all the silly songs. Janice participated in multiple Bible Studies and church groups throughout the years. Janice's faith in Jesus, as her Lord and Savior, was impacted at Faith Church by countless staff and friends. In recent days she was still responsive to conversations about her grandkids and Jesus. She is survived by her children, Greg Sharron Hodsden of Fort Collins, CO; Jenny Mike Lippold of Aurora, CO, Sherrie Brian Kendall of Portland, OR and Bret Kristi Hodsden of Lyman, NE; her brothers Ken Nan Stegner of Fort Collins, CO, Ray Sandi Stegner of Fort Collins, CO and Mike Judy Stegner of Happy Valley. OR; sister-in-law Janet Jo Keith Lacy; 13 grandchildren, Rachel, Zach, Jessica Hodsden, Garrett, Tanner, Madison Lippold, Ian Annie, Sydney, Lucy Kendall; Tucker, Regan, Bryce, Alissa Hodsden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her husband Marvin and her parents, Ira and Rachel Stegner. Janice's family would like to thank the staff of Bloom at Home, New Mercer Commons, Columbine West and Pathways Hospice for their friendship and loving care. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
