Janet Lynn Doell went home to be with God on August 01, 2023, after a long battle with illness. Janet was born on May 01, 1943, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Frederick Wilhelm Doell and Garnet Marie Doell. After being diagnosed at a young age with severe Osteoarthritis, her family relocated to Rapid City, South Dakota, for the climate which was better for Janet's health. Janet graduated from Rapid City High School in 1961. She later relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado, where she lived the remainder of her life. She is survived by her three children, Troy Marcel Saenz, Michele Marie Ridnour, and Suzette Lea Letourneau. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jesse Dale Ridnour, Daniel Joseph Davis (Saenz), Ellison Lynn Rodriguez and Ivy Emma Rodriguez. She also is survived by two great-grandchildren Derryk Ryan Ridnour and Mackenzy Lynn Ridnour.
Janet and her mother Garnet both worked as phone operators with Mountain Bell, of which Garnet retired from. Janet went on to complete her career at Colorado State University after furthering her education at Larimer County Vocational Technical School (now Front Range Community College.) She worked both in the Records and Admissions Department and became a Purchasing Agent for Biochemistry, of which she retired from.
Janet loved traveling and had the opportunity to see many wonderful places over the years across the United States (including Alaska), Canada and Mexico. Her talent as a seamstress was unparalleled and she sewed clothing for herself, children and grandchildren including the best Halloween Costumes ever. She became passionate for quilting and did beautiful quilts, table runners, and numerous Holiday wall hangings and many other amazing projects. She won several ribbons for her quilts at the Larimer County Fair, something she was extremely proud of. She taught her granddaughter, Ellison, to quilt and she also won a ribbon at the Larimer County Fair and made a quilt for one of her favorite teachers in elementary school (a gift she cherishes to this day.)
Her gift of gardening, artwork and decorating was obvious to all who saw her beautiful home and gardens. This is a gift she passed on to her daughter Suzette as well.
Janet was very involved with Timberline Church, and loved the time she spent with her beloved friends in the Prime Timers group, traveling and hosting get togethers as well as her volunteer time stuffing bulletins for services.
While she will be very missed by many, she is free of pain and is rejoicing with the Lord.
Services will be held at Timberline Church located at 2908 S Timberline Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525, in the East Auditorium, on Saturday, September 09, 2023, at 10:00am with a light reception to follow. Please join us in celebrating her life.
