James Eldon Walker, Jr.

November 9, 1948 — March 9, 2019

Listen to Obituary
James Eldon Walker, Jr., 70 years old, of Fort Collins, passed away the afternoon of Saturday, March 9, 2019, after battling cancer for several years.

James, who went by Jimmy, was born November 9, 1948, in Fort Collins, CO. James attended both Fort Collins as well as Poudre High School, and was a star pitcher for the school baseball team. He was also a member of the first ever Fort Collins Little League team, the Bulls, along with two younger brothers; Mike and Danny Walker of Fort Collins.

James married Gloria and soon had a son, James Eldon Walker III, of Westminster, CO. James then got divorced and re-married in September of 1982 to Carmen (Mata) Fuerte of Fort Collins, who a month later, would give birth to a daughter, Michelle Walker of Loveland, CO.

James greatly enjoyed classic cars, attending the "Good Guys" car show events that would come to Old Town, Fort Collins, as well as adding to his impressive collection of classic cars from the "Model T" to the "Hot Rods of the 1950's and 60's". His 'crown Jewel' of the collection being his own 1950 Dodge Sedan original factory sand color that he could only be seen driving on "very sunny and cloudless days", with the soundtrack of the movie 'American Graffiti' being played by an old cassette player in the front seat, through the streets of Fort Collins with his signature goofy grin on his face.

James was also a die-hard Denver Broncos fan, as well as a Colorado Rockies fan... never missing a single pitch, even when the games would sometimes last until the wee hours of the morning. You could always tell when a Rockies player had hit a home run by James yelling "Rock-o's" over the phone to his younger brothers, Mike and Danny.

The three Walker brothers also had a tradition of gathering at youngest brother Danny's home each summer to watch the pay-per-view event WWE Smackdown.

James was given a new number one pride and joy in his life when his daughter, Michelle and husband, Elliott Speiser gave birth to Jimmy's only grandchild, a son, Wyatt James Eldon Walker-Speiser, of Loveland, CO.

James was preceded in death by his father James Eldon Walker, Sr., and mother, Rosie Carol Miller Walker.

James is survived in death by his two younger brothers, Mike and Danny Walker of Fort Collins; children, James Eldon Walker, III, of Westminster; daughter, Michelle Walker and her husband, Elliott Morgan Speiser, and their three year old son, Wyatt of Loveland, CO; as well as step son, Edward Fuerte Sheen and husband, Chad Sheen of Logan, Utah; and step daughter, Rosie Fuerte of Fort Collins, CO.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those who wish may view James from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
