Listen to Obituary
James Dean (Jimmy) Trujillo, 55, peacefully passed away at home on Easter morning, April 16, 2017, surrounded by his loving family following a long, courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was born on February 28, 1962 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Louis and Betty Trujillo. He was the youngest of 11 children. The family moved to Fort Collins in 1963 where he remained a resident the rest of his life.

Jimmy worked as a construction laborer and warehouseman but devoted much of his life to caregiving of family, including his mother Betty through her battle with cancer. His kind, gentle spirit and generous heart was a gift unflinchingly shared with family and friends. His big smile and sense of humor was a blessing to all who knew him.

Jimmy looked for beauty and goodness in everything. He welcomed strangers and made friends easily, just like his mother. He enjoyed cooking, decorating, and dancing. He loved music, the color purple, and covering his walls with pictures of family and Marilyn Monroe. His greatest joy was time spent with family and his many friends. Jimmy's faith in God was a source of strength and courage through his illness. He had recently renewed his Confession of Faith and was baptized in the presence of family.

Jimmy was able to accomplish the things on his "Bucket List" with the help of his sister Emily, niece Mykael and nephew Nick; including taking the train to California to see the Redwood Forest, spending a week at the ocean, and taking a family trip to Las Vegas. He was especially grateful to his sister Mary and her husband Steve who took him into their home during his illness. He felt very loved and grateful for each one. Like his mother, he refused to say, "Goodbye," and instead preferred to say, "I'll see you later."

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother Betty; sisters Francis, Billie Michele, and Louise. He is survived by his father Louis; siblings, Connie Blanco, Sam Blanco (Karen), Bob Blanco, Dave Blanco (Janice), Emily Clark, Randy Trujillo (Diana), JoAnn Brooks (Brian), Gary Wheeler, Mary Kaltenberger (Steve), Steve Trujillo, and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy, we love you, and all will miss you. We are thankful for the many memories and blessings that you brought to our lives.
