Listen to Obituary
James E. "Jim" Morey was born in Clearfield, IA on July 8, l936 to Dwight A. and Evelyn McMath Morey. The family resided on a farm in rural Iowa for many years until they moved to town to operate a dry goods store. Jim worked for many local merchants and played sports at Clearfield High School. He was invited to try out for a major league baseball team and he and his father drove many miles to attend the try out. Unfortunately he did not make the cut but it was a memorable trip for both father and son. Jim's Mother Evelyn was a school teacher but moved on to be the Administrative assistant at the Clearfield Schools to help support the family as Dwight passed away at age 50. Four children, Jim, Ed, John and Myra were born in Clearfield. Evelyn L. Morey Stevenson resides in the Clearview Home and will celebrate her 104th birthday on March 30, 2014. Jim served in the army from 1955 to 1957 in Fort Hood, Texas and following his service he returned to Iowa to begin work at Allied Insurance Company. He programmed the first computer purchased by Allied and thus he began his life long career in the insurance industry. He served as an Executive for many insurance companies and moved his family to Colorado where he was employed by Colorado Farm Bureau for many years. Jim's final employment was as President of Colorado Casualty Insurance Company. Jim and his wife, Shirley retired and moved to Tonto Verde, Arizona in 2001. They returned to Fort Collins to enjoy the mountains and travel in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Jeff Joan, Jill Kim, John Cheri, Jana Gary, and Tim Pam, Todd Tracy and Trent Donna; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
