Jim Kaltenberger, born on May 22, 1956, in Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, after a courageous eight-week battle with cancer.
Jim was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who lived his life with resilience, passion, and a deep love for his family. He was the proud father of Nicole Lukensow and cherished grandfather to Isabelle and Alana Lukensow, who brought him immense joy. He shared a special bond with his lifelong friend, Billy Baker, who stood by his side until the very end.
Growing up in Fort Collins, Jim attended Poudre High School and enjoyed playing men's competitive softball. He worked alongside his stepfather, Leonard Klassen, in the family roofing business before beginning his career in paving. He started at Sterling Asphalt and later worked for both Connell, Simon and Martin Marietta, where he made a lasting impact through his dedication and hard work.
Jim had a passion for the outdoors, spending his free time fishing and hunting. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR and the CSU Rams, always cheering them on with enthusiasm. A lover of Mexican food, he especially enjoyed meals at El Burrito Mexican Restaurant, a place that held many fond memories.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Kaltenberger and Dorothy Klassen, brothers Bob Katlenberger and Kenny Klassen (Yasuko). He is survived by his brother Steve Kaltenberger (Mary); his daughter Nicole Lukensow (James) his beloved granddaughters Isabelle and Alana; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Jim's legacy will live on through the love he shared and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Vinyard Church of the Rockies, 1201 Riverside Ave., Ft. Collins.
