James Edward Giles, 85, passed on to eternal rest on Oct 11, 2023. He was born on November 22, 1937 in Morrill, Nebraska to Ila (Lawson) and Homer Giles.
James, the most devoted and kind husband, father and grandfather, is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sons Timothy and Terry (Gretta) and three grandchildren: Sierra, Marcus and Sean; sisters Sharon and Evelyn (Don).
Following high school, James followed a calling to serve his country and joined the Air Force, where he served for 23 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He then worked civil service for the remainder of his career, retiring in Marysville, CA. James and Charlotte relocated to Loveland, CO in 2005 after the birth of their grandchild, Marcus. James was active in the Loveland Fishing Club, contributing his time and expertise to many community projects and events, like trail building and maintenance and sponsoring fishing derbies for the next generation of anglers. When he wasn't fishing or puttering in the garden, James was likely playing a board game with his grandsons or watching Giants baseball.
James was a proud veteran, committed father and grandfather, and loving husband. James' big smile and wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, 10/21/23 at First United Presbyterian at 400 E. 4th St. in Loveland. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First United's Memorial Fund, in the memory of James Giles.
