Listen to Obituary
On July 30, 2011, James Buck Foster went home to be reunited with his parents James and Emily Foster in Heaven with the Lord. Dad was a wonderful Father and Grandfather to his three daughters, Sharon L. Foster, Jamelyn C. Peterson and Emelie A. Borello; grandchildren, Ariana Foster, Benjamin and Hannah Peterson, Donovan Roubsouay and Miles Borello. It was his three daughters who cared for him in his last three years through several major health events. He was close with his brother, Lee Foster. Born on March 4, 1928 in Fort Morgan, Colorado, his family relocated to Fort Collins when he was young, and he then moved to Washington, D.C. in his high school years. After serving 14 months in Korea as an Army M.P., he graduated in 1953 with a B.S. in Natural Science from C.S.U. and in 1956 a B.S. in Geology from College of Arts and Sciences in Washington, D.C. His career spanned 30 years at the U.S. Geological Survey. He moved to Florida to work where he married Barbara R. Haun, and settled down in Panama City where Sharon me and my sister, Jamelyn were born. We moved to Tallahassee, Florida where he drilled water wells and plotted ground water. On return home he would bring bags of oysters and take the family for shrimp, lobsters or Icees. Moving to Morgantown, West Virginia, his youngest, Emelie was born. The family took its last big move to Champaign, Illinois in 1976. There Barbara and James got divorced and he married Darlene. A quiet man with a good sense of humor, Dad was a very good friend to all who knew him. An avid golfer and runner, he started me at age three with a golf club. In his last 20 years in Fort Collins he had a group of ladies who were classmates from junior high that he got together with each month to have dinner. He was well recognized around town and any place he visited for dining, striking up a friendly conversation. When he lost his ability to drive he would walk from his home all over town catching buses when he got tired. My Dad was a very special person, and my best friend. There are no words to express the loss of this man to his family. He was truly loved and he will never be forgotten by anyone who ever knew him. His loving family also includes his new great-granddaughter, Adora Roubsouay; his niece, Natanis Via; nephew, Gary Foster; son-in-laws' Kent Peterson and Michael Borello, cousins and extended family. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A Reception will follow at 2300 Amherst St., Fort Collins, Colorado. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the James B. Foster Family in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
