Jacques Rieux, a loved and respected member of the Fort Collins community for over 50 years, died December 7, 2023.
Jacques, taught in the English Department at CSU, briefly was a hay rancher near Steamboat, and later was the owner of the Stone Lion Bookstore with his partner, Donna Bathory.
He was a volunteer and board member of the Poudre Landmark Foundation's historic Avery House and Fort Collins Waterworks, the Family Center / La Familia, Bas Bleu Theatre Company, and was a founding member of the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers. He was also an avid horseman and, later in life, an intrepid hiker.
Jacques was complex, multilingual, and charismatic. He befriended and supported people from many different parts of our Fort Collins community.
