Ivan H. Read Jr., 86, of Bellvue, passed away June 21, 2007, at Poudre Valley Hospital. A viewing will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery. Ivan was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Laramie, Wyo., to Ivan H. Read Sr. and Laura A. Alexander. Ivan moved to Bellvue in 1926. He was a proud graduate of Cache la Poudre High School currently CLP Junior High. Ivan served in the Army for 26 years during World War II and the Korean war. He was proud to serve in the "BIG RED ONE." He married Ethel E. Faulkner in 1945 in Goodland, Kan. They raised their three children in Missouri, where Ivan worked for the State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources for many years and retired. He moved back to Bellvue in 1983. In his retirement years, he was Grange Master for the Bellvue Grange, member of the Bellvue Historical Society, member of the American Legion Post, the VFW and too many other activities to list. His pastimes included being with his family and friends and traveling all over the world. He was an avid outdoorsman, and his friends and family knew him as a wonderful cook who enjoyed eating. Ivan was an exceptional person, always volunteering to help out where needed, and was a very patriotic American. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family, and a loyal friend to all who knew him. He is survived by close family, James son Read and Charlene Read of Bellvue, Susan daughter and Pete Petursson of Longmont, and Ray son Read of Springfield, Mo.; his grandchildren, Andrea granddaughter and Steve Dilger of Fort Collins, Christopher grandson Read of Fort Collins; and his pride and joy, Alyssa great-granddaughter Dilger of Fort Collins. Ivan's family would like to thank the Poudre Fire Authority of LaPorte and the wonderful staff at Poudre Valley Hospital for their excellent care and support. A special thanks to Dr. Hoyt and Dr. Milchek of Poudre Valley Hospital.
