Iris Ilene Hughes, 89, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 in Greeley, Colorado. Iris was born on the family farm in La Salle, Colorado on October 13, 1930 to Jacob John Bohlender and Martha Gaede Bohlender.
She married Charles "Wayne" Hughes on August 21, 1949 in Greeley. They were married for 54 years.
Iris was a church organist for over 50 years and worked as a Legal Assistant for 60 years. She loved traveling and spending time with her family
Iris is survived by son, William W. Hughes and wife, Edie and daughter, Jodi Hughes, all of Greeley. Grandchildren, William Hughes II and wife, Brooke of Ft. Collins and Tamara Flanagan and husband, Darren Flanagan of The West Indies. Great Grandchildren Kate, Liam and Ryan Flanagan, Sean and Maxine Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne Hughes, and brothers Leon Bohlender, Dale Bohlender, and Milo Bohlender.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:30 am at The Adventure Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4100 W. 20th St., Greeley. She will be buried with her husband, Wayne, at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
