Irene Paul passed away at home on Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was born in Fort Collins, to Conrad and Kathryn (Maul) Troudt.
Irene graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1938, and shortly thereafter commuted by bus to Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, to work as a Rosie the Riveter in the war effort. She was small enough to fit in the nose of the planes, so she was assigned to do the electrical wiring. In 1945, she became a telephone operator with Mountain Bell and worked her way into management, retiring in 1978 after 32 years of service. During that time, she was active in the Zonta International Club and served as President, as well.
She married her best friend, Herman Paul in August of 1954. They golfed, gardened and kept each other company for 54 great years. Family and friends were of utmost importance, and they created countless memories and spent lots of quality time with both.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Leonard, Glenn, Harland and Elaine, nephew Tom and newborn son Daniel Kevin. She is survived by her sister Beverly Blehm (Ft. Collins), nephews Kenneth and Keith Troudt (Ft. Collins), Glenn Troudt (Longmont), Dennis Troudt (Cheyenne) John Daugherty (Lander), and nieces Dorothy Copps (Tucson), Carol Allen (Sheridan), Katy Montoya (Ft. Collins), Kristy Eddy (Houston), Connie Jesser (Ft. Collins), and their families.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at Peace With Christ Lutheran Church, 1412 W. Swallow Road, Ft. Collins. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Meals on Wheels, in care of Bohlender.
