Hubert O. Schmidt

Hubert O. Schmidt died peacefully on April 28, 2017. Hubert was born in 1923 in Herrenstadt, Germany. He received his engineering degree in Idstein, Germany. There he met and married Margot Munch, whom he called "Mamale". Upon being offered a sponsorship, he finally convinced Margot to immigrate to America and the whole family arrived in New York in July 1955. He completed engineering credentials in the United States and was a Professional Engineer and Value Engineer. After working for many years for Bechtel International involved with building intercontinental hotels around the world, and as Chief Cost Engineer and Associate Partner for architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in New York City, he retired in Fort Collins. This year Hubert and Margot would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Hubert is survived by his wife Margot, daughters Brigitte Schmidt (Jim Madl) Ft. Collins, Barbara Lockwood (John) Sioux Falls, SD, nephew, Detlev Schmidt Germany, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

No memorial service is planned. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff from Live, Love, and Laugh Homecare and Poudre Valley Hospital for all their support and care.
