Howard Dean "Corkie" Irvin, 77, died Thursday, March 20, in Cedaredge. Howard was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Franklin, Neb., son of Howard J. and Velma Irvin. The family moved to Fort Collins in 1936. Howard attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1947. He married Marie M. Hutton on June 10, 1950. They had two children, Patrick Dean and Kathleen Marie. Howard served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He and Marie and family lived in San Francisco until 1959 when they returned to Colorado, moving to Arvada. Howard was a computer programmer for Dow Chemical at Rocky Flats for 30 years until his retirement. Howard loved the mountains, hunting and fishing, and their special home in Kremmling. He was an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Patrick; sister, Cathy Semerad; four grandchildren, Brandi Patrick, Jason Irvin, and Bill and Mary Rosa; two great-grandchildren, Loryn and Caitlynne; and by nephews, Mike, Tim, Brien and Sean Irvin, David and Steven LaGrone, and Tony Semerad; and by niece, Kelly Semerad. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Thomas; parents, Howard and Velma Irvin; and daughter, Kathleen Marie. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
