Holly Charkey

Holly N. Charkey, 42, passed away at home on May 22, 2005, after a battle with lung cancer. Charkey, formerly Watts, was a true native of Fort Collins. She was born Jan. 19, 1963, to Katherine Marie Jekel and William Henderson Beauchamp at Poudre Valley Hospital. Holly worked in the electronics field and more recently as a cable installer. She was an adventurous free spirit with a special appreciation for outdoor life. An outgoing, energetic nature earned her many friends. Her love and concern for the welfare of animals was always apparent. Holly will always keep the love of her survivors, her mother, Katherine M. Watts; sisters, Billie K. Arceneaux and Cheryl L. Stutzmann; brother, Daniel C. Stutzmann; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and her canine "children," Buck and Zoe. Holly and her family extend their heartfelt gratitude for the contributions of many dear people during her journey. There were those who were voices of reason and hope, helping to guide us toward the best medical facilities and treatments. Co-workers have listened well and taken on extra duties. Employers have been supportive and flexible for an extended time while we cared for Holly at home. Members of the hospice staff have given us the tools, advice and encouragement to cope. Nurses, aides, friends and extended family have lent their valuable services, companionship and comforting words. This family will never forget the tremendous love and generosity that have made it possible for us to keep our promises to Holly. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Hospice Chaplain Mike Lundgren will officiate. Bohlender Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
