Herman Paul

Herman Frank Paul, 84 of Windsor, passed away on Sept. 15, in the Hospice Care Center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. Herman was born on March 29, 1924, in Gardena, CA, to Herman T. and Dena Rice Paul. He grew up in Idaho Springs, where he graduated from high school in 1942. He entered the U. S. Army in 1943, serving in the 11th Armored Division the Thunderbolts in Europe. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion and occupation of Germany and Austria. Among other distinctions, the 11th Armored liberated prisoners in the German death camps at Gusen and Mauthausen. Following his discharge in 1946, Herman went to work for Mountain Bell, then US West. During his career, he worked on the installation of communications systems at the NORAD facility in Colorado Springs and was later promoted to telephone engineer, moving to Arvada. On August 13, 1954, Herman was united in marriage to Irene M. Troudt of Fort Collins. They had one son, Dan Kevin, who died at birth. They moved to Windsor in 1992. He is a life member of the BPOE. Herm was preceded in death by his infant son, his parents, and two sisters, who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Irene, three cousins, and by numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. A military interment will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 22 at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins.
