Helen was born in Alamosa, Colorado to Adolph and Mary Daum. Adolph worked for the railroad. Helen had three siblings: Mary, Mildred, and Elmer. When Helen was five years old the Daums moved to Julesburg, Colorado and took up farming.
In 1940 Helen went to Platteville, Colorado, to visit her Uncle George and cousins. It was there Helen met and married Jessie Aragon. Jessie and Helen lived in Greeley, Denver, and Estes Park. The Aragons moved to Fort Collins in 1948, and Helen lived in the same house ever since. Helen had six children: Ethel, Sharon, Leland, Gary, Carol, and Brian.
The Aragons were fieldworkers for many years. Jessie eventually worked for the City of Fort Collins and ran the landfill. He also ran a cardboard binding business. When Jessie died in 1960, Helen took over the cardboard binding business. Helen also worked for the Colorado State University sugar beet lab. Helen passed away at home.
Helen is survived by four children (Sharon Aragon Ramirez Hernandez, Gary Aragon, Carol Aragon Avalos, and Brian Aragon), many grandchildren, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by parents, Raquel Manzanares and Magdalena Romero; brothers, Tony and Francisco (Pancho) Manzanares; sisters, Helen Suarez and Dora Manzanares; and son-in-law, Raul (Rudy) Rodriquez.
