Hazel Loretta Maiorka, 86, passed on September 16, 2012 in Fort Collins. She was born on August 12, 1926 in Fort Collins to Clarence B. and Mattilda Fatland in Butterfield, Minnesota. Hazel grew up in Butterfield and graduated from Butterfield High School in 1944. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1948, met and married Phillip Ross Maiorka. Hazel was very devoted to her family and her fellowship at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, serving her church for 40 years, working in the church cafeteria as a cook, and in many other areas. After her son and husband passed away and she moved to Fort Collins to be closer to her grandchildren, Chris and Shawn. She found her new call as a servant of the Lord at Peace with Christ Lutheran Church and dedicated all her time to wherever she was needed in this fellowship. Hazel was a very good mother, grandmother and friend. She loved life and her Jesus. Hazel is survived by her sister, Norma and brother in law, T.C. of Houston, Texas; her grandson, Christopher and family of Fort Collins; granddaughter, Shawn and family of Colorado Springs; niece, Colleen and nephew, David of Houston, Texas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, her little brother, husband, and son. She will be missed very much. The service will be held at a later date.
