Harold Duane Hockett of Fort Collins died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, of pancreatic cancer. He was 72. Harold was born Nov. 25, 1934, in Hugo. He grew up in Eastern Colorado in Boyero, Sugar City, and Wild Horse, in addition to Hugo. He ranched with his father, Vern, and his brother, Albert on the JOD ranch. He loved to ride the range and learn about cattle. Harold graduated from Colorado State University where he was an Aggie and a Ram. He majored in civil engineering. It was here, in the student center, where Harold met the love of his life, Geraldine. They were joined in marriage on June 9, 1957. Harold and Gerri enjoyed living in Omaha, Neb., and Kansas City, Mo., before returning to their native Colorado. Harold worked for the Corps of Engineers, the Kansas City Stockyards, Al Hockett Construction, and finally was self-employed selling and dealing in collectibles and antiques. Harold enjoyed collecting, fishing, watching the Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies, and spending time with his grandsons. His parents, Vern and Evelyn; and his beloved wife, Gerri, preceded him in death. Harold is survived by three sons, Duane of Fort Collins, David of Aurora, and Bryan and his wife, Jeanie, of Elko, Nev.; a daughter, Cherri and her husband, Richard, of Firestone; seven grandsons; a brother, Albert and his wife, Clarice, of Hamilton, Mont.; a sister, Nadine of Burke, Va.; and many other relatives. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Bohlender Funeral Chapel of Fort Collins. No services will be held.
