Harold Fisher

Harold S. Fisher of Fort Collins, died Sept. 24, 2008, at Lemay Avenue Health. Harold was born near Timnath on May 16, 1923, to Clifford O. and Alice S. Fisher. After graduating from Fort Collins High School, he served in the U.S. Army as a radar operator in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Catherine I. Spurgeon in Rock Island, Ill., on Dec. 28, 1946. He graduated from the Fred Archer School of Photography in Los Angeles, Calif., and attended the University of Iowa and Augustana College. He worked as a photo engineer at the White Sands Missile Range in Las Cruces, N.M,m and for the Martin Company in Lakewood. He returned to Fort Collins in 1968. He became a Real Estate Broker and became a partner with Larry McCrery in F & M Real Estate Company. He later was the owner of Fisher Real Estate. He was the original developer of Vista Bonita and the Poudre River Business Park. He served as a director of the Fort Collins Rotary Club and for many years was the director of the Boxelder Sanitation District and the Lake Canal Company and the Lake Canal Reservoir Company. He was the President of Springer Fisher, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald K. Fisher. Survivors include his wife, Catherine I. Fisher of Fort Collins; a son, Steven C. Fisher Laura of Fairfax, Va.; daughters, Stephanie I. Hill David of Fort Collins and Michelle D. Arnone Ron of Moorepark, Calif.; four grandchildren, Lora Ann Bureau Chris, Matthew Hill and Brandon and Andrew McHargue; sisters-in-law, Elinor Fisher, Betty Garner Jim and Mary Jane Buchen Phil; his niece and nephew, Kathy Fisher Best and Donald J. Fisher; great nephew, Jason Best and family; and 13 Garner and Buchen nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Lemay Avenue Health, Visiting Angels and Hospice of Larimer County for the excellent care they provided Harold in his final months. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, at Blessed John 23rd University Center, 1220 University Ave., Fort Collins. A private Graveside Service at Grandview Cemetery will follow.
