Harold Allan AL Sampson, 75, passed away Aug. 8, 2008. Al was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to Harold and Doris Sampson. Al served in the US Army 1951-1954, 73rd Tank Battalion, including fifteen months in Korea. On Sept. 2, 1956, he married his lifelong love, Clara May Bryner. After spending many happy years with family and friends in Ohio, they moved their family to Fort Collins in 1972. They spent over 30 years in the same home enjoying family and friends in Colorado. They celebrated 48 years of marriage before her death in October 2004. Al worked in mechanic and automotive services all of his life, retiring in 1992. He is survived by his two daughters and their families, Debbie Tellez and husband Gil, of Fort Collins, Janet Allen and husband Randy, of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Angeline Allen of Fort Collins, Marshal Allen of Council, Idaho, Monty Allen and wife Becky of Loveland, and one great-grandson, Moxon Allen of Loveland. Also surviving are his two brothers and one sister, Doris Kaser and husband Frank, Glenn Sampson and wife, Gail, and Jim Sampson, all of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Al also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and in-laws that he fondly referred to as "outlaws". Al was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his brother, Bill. Al was a Chevy man and do-it-yourself handyman, over the years he enjoyed auto racing: including Indy 500s, stock cars in the 70's and Nascar in the 90's. He loved helping Clara with all of her projects throughout the years. And above all else, loved his family. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those who desire may view Mr. Sampson from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
