HARLEY ALBERT WILLIAMS of Fort Collins, Colorado went to be with his Lord on November 20, 2010. He was 95 years old. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Williams, and they just celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary on September 22, 2010. They were married in Goodland, Kansas in 1934. He was born in Lucas, Kansas to Samuel and Millie Williams on July 3, 1915. He had four sisters; three have preceded him, Florence Wagner of McPherson, Kansas, Louise Hanning of Pueblo, Colorado, and Ruth Winkleman of McDonald Kansas. Myra Miller survives him and is 100 years old and lives in McDonald, Kansas. He lived and worked on the family farm in his early life, and it was in Goodland, Kansas that he met the love of his life, Ellen Culbertson who lived on a neighboring farm. To this union four children were born, LeRoy, who died in infancy, Dale Jan Williams of Fort Collins, Mavis Ivene of Austin, Texas, and Mildred Ruth who also died in infancy. He is survived by his two children, Dale and Mavis and four grandchildren, Tammra Ed Graves of San Diego, California, Stephen Carmen Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Valerie Dave Hoke of Austin, Texas, and Jennie Lance Booth of Albany, Ohio. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Melissa Brian Liehr, Janelle Williams, Megan Hoke, Taylor Graves, Brianne Booth, and Lauren Booth. He has one great, great grandchild, Lily Liehr. After moving to Alamosa, Colorado in 1937, he continued farming, surviving the Great Depression. In 1943 they moved to Fowler, Colorado and then on to Fort Collins in 1948, and have lived here most of their remaining years. It was in Fort Collins that he became a Certified Auto Mechanic and worked in that field until he retired a little over thirty years ago. After retiring they lived for awhile in Canyon City. They were also active Snow Birds spending the winters in the South. They were long time members of First Baptist Church of Fort Collins where their son Dale is a retired missionary and Pastor of Missions and Outreach. In all he did, he always tried to exemplify the Christian life and love. He was gifted with being able to use his hands to build, repair, take apart, or invent a way to make something work. We all loved having him around both for his handiness and for the love that he put into everything he made. Harley and Ellen loved the mountains, and took many family road trips. He also loved camping and fishing. After retiring he worked at the Outreach Center in Fort Collins for almost 20 years. He also was a mall walker and walked every day but Sunday. He loved to socialize with all those he met and would take time to talk and have coffee with them. He was known and loved by many, and will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 900 E. Prospect. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery.
