Guenther H. "Pete" Hilse, 92, from Fort Collins, CO, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2019 at the Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland, CO.

Pete was born on October 8, 1926 in Bolkenhain, Germany, the youngest child of Fritz and Meta (Herman) Hilse. He married Brigitte Kaul in Buttenheim, Germany on October13, 1951. In 1953 they immigrated to the United States and spent the next 35+ years in the Columbus, Ohio area where he worked as a baker. They moved to Fort Collins, CO. in 1996 to be near their daughter, Christina (Peter), and their two granddaughters, Jessica and Morgan. Pete loved being an "Opa" to his granddaughters and was very proud of the accomplished young women they have become.

Pete was a kind and gentle person who loved his family and every dog he ever met. He enjoyed doing yard work and fixing things around the house. He also liked taking daily walks outdoors, RV camping, reading, attending church and playing cards.

Pete was preceded in death by his infant son, Frank Roland, his parents, his brother, Werner and his sister, Kathe.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Brigitte Hilse; daughter, Christina Hellyer (Peter); granddaughters, Jessica Oliver-Allen (Hunter) of San Bruno, CA. and Morgan Hellyer of San Diego, CA.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1200 S Taft Hill Road.
