Gregory John Suniga was born October 30, 1963 to Alex and Delores Suniga. He spent all of his life in Fort Collins, Colorado. Greg participated in many activities from a young age. He danced in ballet Folklorico and won many talent shows. He played city softball and was an outstanding volley ball player – he got the entire Suniga family involved.
Greg graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in 1982 and attended Colorado State University for a brief time. He began his career at CSU in May of 1992 and retired June 30, 2017. During his 25 years with the university Greg worked in many offices on campus including the Department of Mathematics, Human Resources, the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology and finally with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences HR Office. Greg has many, many friends at CSU and he is remembered for his unwavering kindness. Greg worked briefly at Shamrock Foods after his retirement and he even recently became an ordained minister to help marry his Godson.
Greg and his partner Wes (Rice) met in 1986 and spent the next 20 years together until Wes’s passing in 2006. They are together again after 20 years! They had several businesses together including Casino Rush. Greg shared many stories of the Casino days.
Greg is survived by his father Alex Suniga Sr., his mother Delores Suniga, sister Maria (Mike) Escobar, brothers Rick (Elva) Villafranca, Bob Villafranca, Alex Jr. (Edie) Suniga, lots of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, Carmella Chavez, Adrienne Suniga, childhood friends and CSU friends. He was preceded in death by his partner Wes Rice, brother John Villafrance and sister Jean Villafranca.
