Listen to Obituary
Gloria A. Graves, 84, died Aug. 30, 2006, at her home due to an extended illness. Gloria was born on March 21, 1922, to Roy D. Neeley and Lucille Alkire Neeley in San Diego, Calif. She received her Certificate of Graduation from 10th grade from Brad School in Brad, Texas, and was married on Feb. 19, 1940, to W.H. Graves in Weatherford, Texas. Gloria was a housewife until the age of 60, and her first job was as an assistant school cook for a small country school in Texas. She loved traveling, playing the piano, gardening, cooking, and caring for family and friends. Gloria was lovingly called "Glo" by many friends and family. First, Glo loved the Lord and was a faithful servant for many years. Her gift was hospitality and giving of herself. Glo came from a family of six, survived the Depression years and raised her family in the hills of Texas. After her husband of 48 years passed away in 1988, Glo moved to Fort Collins, where she resided for 18 years, so she could be cared for by her daughter and family. She made many friends and enjoyed her new life as a "city girl." Glo's life ended peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends and her cat Boo. She is survived by her son, Bill Mack Graves Sr. of Kenai, Ark.; daughter, Deanna "Jane" Warren and son-in-law, Greg B. Warren of Fort Collins; brothers, Lambert Neeley of Whittier, Calif., and Dean Neeley of Citrus Heights, Calif.; sister, Diana Neeley of Glens Falls, N.Y.; grand-daughters, Samantha Warren-Reeves and husband Jesse Reeves of Normal, Ill., and KayCee Rae Warren of Fort Collins; grandson, Bill M. Graves Jr. of Texas; and great-granddaughter, Heather Graves of Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. at Foothills Assembly of God, 305 W. Swallow Road, Fort Collins. The Rev. Steve Curry will be officiating. Interment will take place at Brad Cemetery in Brad, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524, 482-4244.
