Katie (Gloria Kay) Christensen came into this world on February, 25 1949, in Oakland, California. She left us, peacefully in her sleep, at home, in the wee hours of January 9, 2025, in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was 75 years old.

A series of illnesses left Katie mostly home bound for most of the last three years, but she never stopped planning her next adventure for when she got better. And she was very adventurous. She was an avid and accomplished whitewater kayaker. Hiking, biking, dirt biking, camping, river trips and road trips with friends and international travel were all things that Katie loved to do. After they met and fell in love, she also loved to go swing dancing to live music with her boyfriend, Elvis.

Katie received degrees in Elementary Education from San Diego State University, Oregon State University and Colorado State University. She taught school for Poudre R1 School District at Riffenburgh Elementary School in Fort Collins and Cache La Poudre Elementary School in Laporte.

Katie is survived by her niece Shayna Christensen, nephew Lawrence Toussaint, sister-in-law Marlene Christensen, and an assortment of in-laws and outlaws.

Katie was preceded in death by her father Robert Kay Christensen, her mother Gloria Mae Christensen, nee West and her brother Robert West Christensen.

A wake for Katie will be held June 20th, 2025 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at The Swing Station, 331 Co Rd 54G, Laporte, CO. Following the wake will be "Katie Fest" with music and dancing from 2:00 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunscreen, umbrellas and lawn chairs may be needed.
