Glenn Warren Knauer, 95, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2022. He was born in DeSoto, Missouri, a small town south of St. Louis on February 13, 1927. Glenn enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served in WW2. He later was accepted to West Point Military Academy and was on both the Cross-Country team and Track teams during his four years at the Academy. He graduated in 1950 and served in the Korean War in combat artillery. His additional graduate school education included a Master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Electrical Engineering. He also served as ROTC professor and senior officer at Weber State University during the Vietnam War.

Glenn was a veteran of WW2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cold War. He served multiple tours in Korea and Germany as well as assignments in numerous military posts throughout the United States. He retired after thirty-one years of service attaining the rank of Colonel in the US Army.

Glenn married the "love of his life," Ruth Anita Turner in 1952 and he is survived by her. He would frequently say his biggest accomplishment and source of happiness was his family. He was very proud of his three children. Glenn is also survived by his daughter Suzanne LK Rountree, PhD and her husband, Don of Albuquerque, NM; his daughter Sally Ann Knauer, MD and her husband, Greg; and his son Steven Knauer, MD and his wife, Brenda. Steven is retired from the US Navy.

Glenn and Ruth have four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was known for his kindness and beautiful smile. He modeled integrity and gratitude and loved the Lord. He treasured his wife Ruth and always put her well being above his own. He loved nature and one of his most fond memories was camping with his family in the Scottie camper trailer. Glenn was an excellent gardener. He loved birds and dogs and grew especially close to Cleo the beagle in his last years.

Glenn loved the outdoors and enjoyed going on trishaw electric cycle rides with Miles of Smiles Colorado. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Miles of Smiles Colorado, a 501c non-profit organization at http://milesofsmilescolorado.org .
