Listen to Obituary
Virginia Ginny Wilmsen died on Dec. 9, 2006, in Fort Collins, four days after her 71st birthday. She is survived by her brothers, Carl Wilmsen of Fort Collins and Ed Wilmsen of Edinburgh, Scotland. Her remains will be buried in Dallas, Texas, next to her mother and father, Emelia Ella and Werner Wilmsen. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews. Ginny will always be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit and the love she gave to her family and friends. She had a special gift of making people smile and laugh and it seems that everyone has a story to tell of how Ginny touched their life and made it happier. She was a gourmet cook, an accomplished tennis player and loved the out of doors. Ginny was born in Galveston, Texas, and lived much of her life in Dallas. She attended North Texas University in Denton, Texas, graduating with a degree in elementary education. Soon thereafter, she joined the John Hancock Insurance Co. as executive secretary to the regional claims manager in Dallas and later in Boston. Returning to Dallas she headed a claims office for John Hancock before starting her own insurance claims company. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Alzheimer research or Hospice of Larimer County, in care of the Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
