Gerard Francis Lameiro succumbed to covid and cancer the morning of September 8, 2021 at Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was 71 years old, at the time of his death.
Gerard most recently lived in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was engaged to be married to his fiancé Terry Gile. They had been planning their summer wedding at Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish in Fort Collins. He is survived by his half-brother Robert McCauley, his brother Raymond Anthony Lameiro, Ray's wife Georgie Lameiro, his brother Paul Ambrose Lameiro. Gerard has a deceased half-sister Aileen Povitch (Lameiro).
Gerard was born in Paterson, New Jersey in 1949 to Frank Raymond Lameiro and Beatrice Cecilia Lameiro (Donley), both deceased. His early years were spent on Long Island, New York where he enjoyed many summer days at the beach with his family. In 1961 his family moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to pursue the family business. His family moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1961 where Gerard graduated from Xaverian High School.
Gerard began his college career at Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana before transferring to Colorado State University, after his family moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1967. Gerard earned degrees at Colorado State University, including a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with high distinction, a Master of Science in Business Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering.
During his Ph.D., he was twice awarded Colorado Energy Research Institute Fellowships. Following his Ph.D. degree, Dr. Lameiro became a National Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Energy-Related Fellow. Gerard belonged to: Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Kappa Mu Epsilon, and Sigma Xi. Dr. Lameiro was a Senior Scientist at the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) which is now called the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
Dr. Lameiro was an Assistant Professor in the College of Business at Colorado State University (CSU). He was awarded the Honors Prof Award and the Alumni Faculty Award for outstanding teaching. Dr. Lameiro created a strategic and computer modeling think tank, Lameiro Research Institute (LRI). Dr. Lameiro joined Hewlett-Packard and held a variety of engineering, marketing and management positions during his 16 years with HP. After retirement from Hewlett Packard, Gerard pursued his dream of reducing poverty by teaching economics. Toward his mission, Gerard Francis Lameiro Ph.D. was an author, speaker, analyst, and creator of forecasting models. Dr. Lameiro founded and led Lameiro Economics LLC, promoting his ideas for economic freedom, growth and prosperity.

A memorial mass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish, 5450 S Lemay Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
