Listen to Obituary
Gerald "Jerry" Sheaman, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and by far, master of all trades, passed away suddenly on December 12, 2009. He was 62. Gerald Sheaman was born in Lusk, Wyoming on May 14, 1947 to Robert "Bob" Sheaman and the late Alice Sheaman, the oldest of three children. Jerry met his soul mate, Gloria in Casper, Wyoming and the two were married on December 20, 1969. Jerry and Gloria moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where they attended Colorado State University. They bought a home in northwest Colorado where they started a family together. Jerry and Gloria raised two sons, Todd and Jeff. Jerry was the owner of a hay hauling company and successfully operated and worked in the business for twenty-one years. After briefly working in commercial real estate, Jerry started a hardwood flooring business in 1993 and continued working steadily through 2009. While at work, Jerry was always known for his commonly worn Carhartt bib overalls. Outside his professional life, Jerry was passionate about working on old farm machinery. Jerry enjoyed working in his shop, whether it was changing the oil in his pickup or completely rebuilding a Caterpillar or John Deere Tractor. Jerry's recent project was to repair a snow cat for family friends. Jerry enjoyed helping others, whether it be a family member, close friend or a complete stranger and he never asked for anything in return, besides maybe a hot cup of coffee. Jerry's size and large hands earned him the nickname "Bear" to most, but he was known to everyone for the size of his heart and his compassion for his friends and family. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife of almost 40 years. Jerry also enjoyed spending time with his two sons and five grandchildren. When not at work, Jerry could usually be found on one of his numerous farm toys taking his grandchildren for rides around his house. His family always saw and referred to Jerry as a "big kid" playing with his toys. For years, Jerry was active in the Boy Scouts of America and he earned numerous awards and accommodations. He traveled to numerous locations around the United States and to Mexico to share scouting with others. Jerry also enjoyed attending the Livermore Community Church, where he stayed active in church programs and plays. He was recently cast to play a role in an upcoming Christmas play. Jerry is survived by his wife, Gloria; sons, Todd of Fort Collins and Jeff of Green River, Wyoming; five grandchildren, Ashley, Holly, David, Kaydon and Quinlan; brother, Kerry of Fort Collins; sister, Evelyn of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and father, Robert Sheaman of Lusk, Wyoming. He is preceded in death by his mother, the late Alice Sheaman. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the South Auditorium of Timberline Church, 2908 S. Timberline Rd. Viewing will take place on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Jerry Sheaman Memorial Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
