Listen to Obituary
Gerald (Jerry) Allen Schott
June 5, 1937 - September 22, 2026

The gates of Heaven opened wide on September 22nd to welcome a kind and gentle soul by the name of Jerry Schott. A loving husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather, and friend.

Jerry was born to Herman H Schott and Laura Marie (Socolofsky) Schott at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins CO on June 5th, 1937. He lived with his parents on the Schott homestead, North of Waverly, until around 2 years of age at which time he and his parents ended up on their farm located on East Vine Drive. This is where Jerry made a lifetime of memories and loved to tell stories of his time on the farm. Unfortunately, when Jerry was 11 years of age, his father, while taking on a supplemental job, was killed in an accident at the Cement Plant, this leaving Jerry, his mother and younger brother Richard faced with leaving his beloved farm and moving into town, a move that took Jerry many years of adjustment. The farming community was always in his heart.

Graduating from FCHS in 1956, Jerry went to work for Ricker Bros, Wholesale, working himself in a management position he held for over 30 years, mentoring young people, hiring many part-time, on the condition they stay in school. Some would contact him later in life to thank him for his support. Keeping his farming roots, Jerry remained active in the 4-H program, serving not only as a Leathercraft Leader, on the Foundation Board, and on the Larimer County Fair Beef Committee. Jerry was featured in the Fence Post magazine for his Leathercraft accomplishments.

He was President of the Number 2 Boat and Ski Club for several years and spent many a weekend driving his boat around the lake so his kids, grandkids and all their friends could learn to waterski. Jerry was also a lifetime member of the Elks Club #804 of Fort Collins.

Jerry and Donna Lou (Minor) Schott were married June 25th, 1955, in Fort Collins, celebrating their 71-year anniversary this past June. They made their home on a small acreage in Northwest Fort Collins. This has been their home for over 66 years, raising their three children, Deb, Diane, and Todd there and it later becoming a second home for their grandchildren and all their friends. Upon retiring, Jerry from Ricker Bros., and Donna from Poudre School District, they purchased an RV and spent the next 20 years traveling with brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Karen Minor. Spending a great deal of time at their favorite places, Lake Eufaula OK and Yuma AZ. Sharing many good laughs together involving their adventures.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, son-in law, John Clark Moen, grandson Shawn Allen Willbanks, Great Grandson Brantley Clark Alber and many beloved family members and friends.
Survivors include his wife Donna, daughters Debbie (Gary), Hanks of Eaton, CO., Diane Moen (John) of Virginia Dale CO., and son Todd of Ft Collins, CO. Grandchildren; Breann (Brandon) Alber, Cody (Tracy) Willbanks, Jodi (Byron Buckendorf) Willbanks, Tad (Jessie) Moen, Tyler (Katie) Schott, and Bryan (Ali) Dale. He is also survived by Great-Grandchildren, Dayson, Dalton and Bryton Willbanks, Triston Moen, Trygg Alber, Arianna and Luca Dale. Jerry and Donna were looking forward to the birth of a new Great Granddaughter to be born in January to Tyler and Katie. Also, a brother Richard (Cathy) Schott and sister Karen Rogers.

A special thank you to Pathways Hospice for making Jerrys wish to be home possible.
