George M. Kivett, 97, of Fort Collins, died June 25, 2005, at Windsor Health Care Center. Mr. Kivett was born June 6, 1908, in Harrisonville, Mo., to George C. Kivett and Josephine Moore Kivett. He and his family moved to Dalton, Neb., in 1914. George married Margaret L. Ravert on Feb. 8, 1930, in Dalton, Neb. In 1935 he worked for a Chevrolet dealership in Dalton and in 1945, George bought that Chevrolet and Case farm equipment business. George was a president of the school board, a church elder, served on the volunteer fire department, and was a charter member of the Lion's Club. He then sold the business and moved to Fort Collins in 1953. He built pickup tops and owned a motel and a paint store. Margaret and George wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for many years. She preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 1993. He then married Pauline Smith on July 24, 1993, in Fort Collins. She preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2002. George enjoyed fishing and working with stained glass, wood and copper. He also restored a 1950 Buick. He was a member of the LaPorte Presbyterian Church and the Fort Collins First Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a sweet and gentle man. Mr. Kivett is survived by two sons, Jerry Kivett of Loveland, and Larry Kivett of Novato, Calif.; a daughter, Fran Howerton, of Fort Collins; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Kivett is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, second wife, and a sister, Viola Ravert. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Fossil Creek Park. Private interment at Roselawn Cemetery will also be held. Memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W.
